EDUCATIONAL EVENT (March 14, 2017)
Rock Your Profile at LinkedIn with BAWiP!
Your next play. Network growth. Social selling. These building blocks were the foundation of BAWiP’s Rock Your Profile event at the LinkedIn HQ on March 14th 2018.
Here are four key takeaways from the presentation by John Orofino (who works for LinkedIn Sales Solutions Key Accounts) and Chris Tamasi (LinkedIn Learning Solutions’ Account Executive):
-
Your LinkedIn profile is more than a digital resume. Think of LinkedIn as a platform designed to elevate your presence in the workforce and help you develop meaningful professional relationships
2. Tell your story, while giving recruiters and employers what they want:
-
A suitable headshot (against a solid background with appropriate lighting, not a picture from Halloween or brunch last Saturday)
-
A punchy summary that details your past, your career trajectory, and a call-to-action that will resonate with people
-
A healthy dose of SEO-strong buzzwords that illustrates your honed skills, experience, and passion proving you to be a top searchable candidate.
3. Be personable and make it easy for people to relate to you in just a few seconds (which is often all the attention our resumes receive)
-
Find ways to show your engagement, drive, and creative spark
-
Consider adding comprehensive media such as news articles, white papers, sizzle reels, and even personal stories that relate back to the driving force of what you love most about your work.
-
Stay focused on using your profile to build a rapport with the connections to you add to your network.
4. Know Your Audience and Add Value
As we all know in the small-world book publishing industry, relationships are key. Ask yourself:
-
Who is my audience?
-
How am I adding value?
-
How does all of this translate into expanding my community and helping me land my dream job?
